Summer Reading

Our Goal: Provide reading, learning, and cultural opportunities for patrons of all ages throughout the summer. The games and challenges for children, young adults, and adults will encourage all ages to read and experience the joy of learning with a focus on art, the world and creativity. We’ll employ a library-wide series of activities and color and world-themed décor. Connect with your community and join us for events and activities this summer!

Children's

Kickoff Party

The Library's Summer 2025 kickoff event is Monday, June 23 in the Children's Department. Check the calendar for the day's schedule of events. We have lots of fun activities planned in the Children's Department - some all-day events as well as special events from 10:00AM-12:30PM and 4:30PM-7:30PM. Be sure to check the calendar for events already scheduled throughout the summer and pop-up events.

Pre-K

K-6

When registered, our K-6 friends will receive a drawstring backpack with instructions and most of the materials needed to complete their challenges at home. Participants will earn a brag tag for each main challenge they complete at home. Each week will feature a different mini challenge (while supplies last) - you pick the day and time that works best for you. Read 10 books to earn a free book!

YA Game

At each checkout, registered YA patrons will turn the knob on the bubble gum machine located at the circulation desk and discover the colored cotton ball inside. Each color will represent a different prize (books, candy, and fidget spinners) There will also be a continuous rotation of self - directed activities available in the YA space, as well as programs such as Dungeons and Dragons and Squid Dissections!
